How does it work?
IPL works by placing the laser on the skin where a short pulse of light is released targeting many follicles simultaneously. The applicator is then moved to the neighbouring area of skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. Light is absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. The light energy heats the pigment and effectively destroys the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding cells.
Most people describe the sensation as practically pain-free and while tolerance of pain is very individual, no anaesthetics are required.Am I suitable for treatment?
Most people are suitable for treatment. Best results are often achieved with clients who have fair skin and dark hair. Dark hair is more easily treated as it has a high concentration of melanin. Fair hair however, contains less melanin and is harder to treat. At your initial consultation we will ascertain if the treatment will be successful for you. Grey/white hair has no melanin so is not suitable for treatment.
We recommend IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology for safe and effective hair removal.
IPL (often referred to as laser) uses short, safe bursts of intense light to remove unwanted hair from all body sites in minutes. The results last for years!
Treatment time depends on the area and can be discussed at your consultation.Typically around 8 treatments are needed, and the intervals between treatments are typically 1-2 months.
What happens next?
Only hair that is actively growing is affected, therefore multiple treatments are needed. Treatment is conducted every 4 – 8 weeks, depending on the area treated, until a satisfactory result is seen. The required number of treatments varies, but typically 6 or more treatments are needed for optimum results.
It is important not to pluck, tweeze, wax or use hair removal creams during the four weeks before treatment. It is also recommended to use sunscreen (min. SPF 30) for four weeks following treatment.
