The laser gives the ability to carry out hair removal for ALL skin types and treatments can be carried out ALL year round.

The Initia has IceTip Technology which continuously cools the skin during the treatment, dramatically reducing discomfort and aiding the ‘Pain Free` mode….and it really is pain free! This can be used on larger areas such as legs, back and chest, but also the bikini line and underarms.

The Initia diode laser has ultra-fast treatment times. It shoots up to four times per second meaning a full leg can be treated in around 30 – 45mins and full body hair removal in around 90mins.

Thyme Laser and Beauty have partnered with Lynton (the UK’s number one laser and IPL manufacturer and leading NHS supplier) to bring you safe and highly effective permanent hair reduction. Lynton have over 23 years’ experience manufacturing a broad range of aesthetic technologies and have won multiple awards for the quality, safety and clinical results achievable with their equipment.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The applicator is placed against the pre-shaved skin and a short pulse of light is released, which targets many follicles simultaneously. The applicator is then moved to the next area of skin and the process repeated until the entire area is treated.

Once hair follicles have been damaged by the light heat, the hairs then remain in the follicles and shed one to three weeks post treatment as the epidermis renews. During this period the hairs will seem to ‘grow’ as they are pushed out by the new epidermis. Only hair that is actively growing is affected, therefore multiple treatments are needed. Treatment is conducted every four to eight weeks, depending on the area treated, until a satisfactory result is seen. The required number of treatments varies, but typically six or more treatments are needed for optimum results.

AM I SUITABLE FOR TREATMENT?

Most people are suitable for treatment however grey and white hair doesn’t contain melanin so will not be suitable for laser hair removal. Best results are often achieved with fair skin and dark hair clients as dark hair is more easily treated with its high concentration of melanin. Fair hair contains less melanin and is harder to treat. At your initial consultation we will ascertain if the treatment will be successful for you and before any treatment starts, a patch test will be carried out.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

The skin may be red immediately after treatment and the hair follicles may be swollen and bumpy but this usually subsides within a few hours. Unwanted reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

PLEASE REMEMBER!

At your consultation we will need to see the hair and it’s very important not to pluck, tweeze, wax or use hair removal creams in the four weeks ahead of your treatment. Once your treatment is booked in, you will be asked to shave the area the day before your treatment. It is also recommended to use sunscreen (min. SPF 30) for four weeks following treatment.
