Medical microneedling, also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy and Micro-Needling is aimed at stimulating the body’s own collagen production to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity and scarring such as that caused by acne or chickenpox.
The treatment introduces a series of fine, sharp needles into the skin. The device is moved over the surface of the skin to create thousands of microscopic channels. This ‘damage’ encourages the body to produce new collagen and elastin which generate new skin cells to repair itself, the skin then becomes thicker, plumper and more rejuvenated.
Medical microneedling
This is the one to go for if you are treating any of the skin concerns below. If you are starting to think about injectables, you may prefer to try this first, and for those of you that already have injectables, then microneedling is great for skin health – healthier skin – the better the result from injectables.

What to expect from this treatment
Depending on your skin concern what we are trying to achieve will differ. If ageing skin is your main concern, then we would be looking for pinpoint bleeding (not blood all over the face as you may see!), but for all concerns you will be pink/red post treatment. Your skin will feel very tight and dry, let it do its thing and leave it alone as much as you can. The following day you may still look a little flushed and/or in some areas may still have some swelling if we have worked a little deeper. You may get some patches of dry skin 2-3 days after the treatment, again, just let your skin do it’s thing. Generally, at around 2 weeks post treatment, you will be glowing as that new collagen starts to kick in.
Cosmetic microneedling
Cosmetic microneedling is all about product penetration. By adding appropriate products to the skin while needling, the ingredients will be taken into the skin via the microchannels that have been created, meaning the ingredients get to work where they are needed.

Cosmetic microneedling is great for clients that would like to see what the treatment is like or that may be nervous about the treatment. Great for younger clients as a preventative treatment.
What to expect from this treatment
You will be pink after this treatment, but this generally goes down within a couple of hours (depending on your skin). It may still feel quite tight and dry on the day depending on products that are used during the treatment. You will normally notice that your skin looks more hydrated and plumper after this treatment as Hyaluronic Acid is generally one of the most used ingredients in this treatment.
