These are some of our frequently asked questions but if you can’t find the answer you need here, please get in touch!
How do I book an appointment?
Booking online is the easiest way, then I know I have the right details for you and your appointment. You will get automated reminder messages and I can send consultation forms to you before your appointment.
Do you offer walk-in appointments?
No, most of my treatments require a patch test at least 48hrs before so pre-booking is required. However if you spot me in the reception area of the salon, please feel free to pop in to discuss your requirements.
Is there parking nearby?
There are two local car parks within a couple of minutes walk of the salon, both with free parking for the first hour.
Can I call you?
Yes, but generally you will get my answerphone, so leave a message and I will call you back. Sometimes I may be able to respond quicker to an email in between clients.
I’m not sure what treatment I need?
Don’t worry, just book for one of the consultations and I will recommend the right treatment path when we talk through your needs.
I’ve booked a facial treatment, do I need to come without make-up on?
If your happy to come barefaced, then yes that is helpful. But otherwise it’s no problem for me to remove it for you at the start of the treatment.
I’ve booked a consultation for hair removal, do I need to let the hair grow?
It is really helpful to be able to see the hair in its natural state. I can get a better idea of the hair type, thickness and colour which will give a better treatment outcome.
Can you treat white hair?
Yes, with electrolysis.
Can I have IPL treatments during the summer months?
Yes you can, but you will need to use a good quality SPF 30+ and avoid tanning the treatment area. If you have a sun holiday booked, we would avoid this time.
Can I pluck my hair in between my IPL/electrolysis treatments?
No, this will only prolong your treatment in the long run. Trim or shave the area only.
Is IPL hair removal permanent?
It is permanent reduction, you should get around a 70-90% permanent reduction in your hair growth. Electrolysis is the only method of permanent removal as we are working on one hair at a time.
Does IPL hurt?
There is a sensation which a lot of people describe it as a ‘flick of an elastic band’. It shouldn’t be painful. But honestly, everyone is different and each area may feel different. You will always receive a patch test on the area you are having treated so this will give you a good idea of what to expect and how it feels.
How many IPL hair removal treatments will I need?
Everyone is different, but I always say to start the course thinking around 6-8 treatments.
How often will I need to come for IPL hair removal?
It does depend on the area and on your hair growth, but as a general rule, 4-6 weeks on the face and 6-8 weeks for the body.
If I’m having IPL hair removal on my bikini line, what do I need to wear?
If you are having a standard bikini line or a Brazilian, you can wear any knickers apart from ‘shorts’ as they are hard to move out of the way. I do have disposable pants if you prefer. For a Hollywood, I may ask you to remove your underwear completely, but we can use paper towels to cover you if you are uncomfortable with that.
